The Strengthening Families Program is an evidence-based training program designed to provide parenting and family life skills in addition to children’s social skills. Parents and children will participate in SFP in interactive groups, both together and separately within breakout rooms.
It is a 7-week program for families across Warren County. The Strengthening Families Program was first established in 1982 to aid parents in developing the skills needed to keep their children from using drugs and alcohol. It is an evidence-based training program providing parenting and family life skills as well as children’s social skills. Parents and children participate in SFP, both together and separately within breakout rooms. The SFP family relationship skills are useful for all families—not just those at risk. Meals will be provided for each session, and there will be prizes and incentives for attending.
Prevention Connections is offering this program for seven consecutive weeks, ideally to families with children between the ages of 6-11 & 12-16.
With this program, we hope to increase parental involvement, communication and family bonding while decreasing family conflict and youth depression and aggression.
